The beginning of the school year is here, and we have some fun decorated cookies to start it off. We love the emails, tweets and facebook posts we are getting from parents who tell us they stashed one of these cookies in their child’s backpack as a sweet little surprise in August or September. What about bringing one to a teacher? No one works harder than teachers during the first few weeks of school. The big smiles on each one are hard to resist! Who wouldn’t want to open up their lunch bag and pull one of these out?
What I love about these particular cookies is that they can also be a conversation piece. First, the cookies are decorated with natural food colors – that means that the red color in the apple is made from beets! (Any guesses what vegetable we use to make yellow? Leave us a comment below.) No chemicals or artificial colors. Natural colors are much better for you; simple and clean, which always translates into a better choice to make when you’re putting it in your body! Second, our cookies are peanut and tree nut free. Do you know how many people have an allergy to nuts? 1 out of 13! Because so many companies make many different products in their bakeries, it’s nearly impossible for people with nut allergies to find safe cookies to eat. Ours are completely safe. We are very proud and work very hard to keep our cookies free from nuts. Allergies can be very difficult for individuals and their families, and we love that we can make fun, delicious cookies that everyone can eat.
So as you stock up each week on snacks at the grocery store, let us know — what are your favorite healthier snacks? Do you grab a bag of organic chips instead of regular? What about 100 calorie pack instead of a full bag of something? And, if you do sneak one of our cookies into a lunch box, or are the lucky recipient, let us know. We love your pics and comments and posts!
Cheers to a great to September!
