It is that time of the year again, children crying and parents rejoicing as the doors to schools their doors. Countdown to Kindergarten is a Boston, MA non-profit program that engages families, educators and the community in a citywide effort to enhance early learning opportunities and to support the transition into kindergarten. In Boston this project has promoted teacher collaboration on school readiness issues; doubled the percent of families visiting schools to make informed registration decisions; and increased the percentage of children who enter Boston public schools at kindergarten rather than first grade.
This year, Fancypants collaborated with Whole Foods Market and the Boston Children’s Museum (who hosted the event) and donated box upon box of our school bus, teacher’s apple, and flower cookies! Our cookies are made with simple, clean ingredients and are peanut and tree nut free, making them a healthier snack than highly processed treats that kids often eat.
Over 1,300 people entered the Children’s Museum doors and even more stayed outside to enjoy to enjoy school bus tours and try on new back-packs supplied by Cradles to Crayons (another Boston non-profit that supports early learning initiatives) that were full of school supplies and healthy treats. Some other awesome companies were also involved in this great event were Late July, Stonyfield, and Nature’s Path; it’s so important that companies support events like this that help educate kids that eating can be healthy AND delicious. Education is something that we believe in very strongly here at Fancypants — and one of the most important elements of education is that learning should be fun (that is where our cookies come in).
To all those who educate – thank you! Continue the great work that you do!
