Fancypants Baking Co. Awarded Grant

SBANE

As members of the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE), Fancypants Baking Co. applied for a highly coveted Grant Program administered by SBANE and financed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This program was supported by the current governor’s administration and endorsed by Lieutenant Governor, Karen Polito and State Senator, Karen Spilka, who serves on the Senate Committee on Ways and Means.

The program is funded through an appropriation from the Massachusetts State legislature and is intended to provide targeted grants to highly qualified Massachusetts companies for projects that enhance the company’s competitive advantage in their respective marketplaces. The SBANE organization has sponsored this exclusive program to members and non members for seven years in a row. Overall SBANE has allocated $1.4 million dollars in public funds and $1.4 million dollars in matching funds to over 130 Massachusetts companies in this period. The program is intended to bolster Massachusetts job growth and has been high on Governor Baker’s list of pledged economic support to businesses in the Commonwealth.

This past year, Fancypants Baking Co. co-founder Maura Duggan applied for this grant for the purpose of enhancing the branding image of the company by using a local agency, Marketing By Design (MBD), headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts.  MBD is in the process of working with us to re-design our packaging for our mini Crunch Cookie line.  We want to better tell our story — what makes us unique and what makes our cookies stand out from our competition.  In the short time since we’ve launched the line, we’ve enjoyed great success in the marketplace; with a new branding and packaging message, we intend to continue our growth!  Working with a local company like MBD is an important part of our future success.  We want to support our  community is important to us as we continue to offer good jobs and rewarding careers for our employees.

Fancypants Baking Co. prides itself on being a health-conscious specialty cookie manufacturer, producing completely natural sweets for high-end supermarkets, specialty stores and grocery chains. Much like the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeking to continue economic growth for business, we are privileged to have been selected to participate in this grant program and will do our part to support job growth and value to our customers.

On November 2, 2015, Maura proudly received this award at the State House from Lt.Governor Palito alongside SBANE President, Bob Baker, and Senator Spilka. The employees of the company along with the co-founders, Maura and Justin, extend our wholehearted thanks to SBANE and the State Legislature for this opportunity.

Cheers
